The author argues that traditional views of grief are too superficial and simplistic, and develops a new understanding of grief as a process of “meaning reconstruction.” By using stories of real people who have faced significant loss, the book helps readers activate the personal and social resources required for adapting to loss. Finally, it examines different kinds of loss, such as separation or losing one’s job. The book is distinguished by its sensitivity and strong theoretical foundation.
